Hugo Bastos has a postgraduate degree in Occupational Health and Safety at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Coimbra, a Higher Pilotage Course and a CESE – Pilotage, Cargo and Passenger Branch from the Escola Superior Náutica Infante D. Henrique and an Executive MBA in Management at the Escola Europeia de Desenvolvimento Empresarial.

His CV also includes an Official Merchant Navy Licence and a High Seas Master’s Licence, as well as numerous certifications related to the maritime sector.

Professionally, he is currently a director of Douro Azul / Douro Legend / Douro Heritage, Mystic Ocean SA and Mystic Cruises SA, as well as an assistant professor at the Escola Superior Náutica Infante D. Henrique.

He also works as a maritime expert appointed by Courts and Law Firms, trainer in several areas and consultant in the area of Hygiene and Safety at Work.

As part of his duties at Mystic Cruises, he is responsible for new hotel ship constructions.
