Joaquim Simplício began his career in 1996 as Technical Director at Mútua dos Pescadores, rising to become Deputy General Manager and, since 2021, Managing Director of Mútua.

As a professional in the field, Joaquim Simplício has been a member of the Technical Committees of the Portuguese Association of Insurers, namely the Transport Technical Committee; a member of the Inland Hull, Fishing Vessels and Yachting Committee of IUMI (International Union of Marine Insurance); a member of EFICA (European Fishing Vessel Insurance Companies Association) since 2008 and its President since 2017.

Over the years, he has contributed numerous articles to a wide range of media, both in the maritime market and in more general organisations. He has also been a speaker at various events related to safety and prevention, particularly in the maritime market, and a trainer on various courses related to maritime transport insurance.
