Lieutenant Commander Manuel Dias Godinho joined the Portuguese Navy in 2007 to undertake a Master’s degree in Naval Military Sciences, specialising in Naval Engineering (Mechanics branch), completing his training in 2012.
He began his career on the corvette NRP Afonso Cerqueira, serving as Head of Mechanical Services and Damage Control until 2014. He then served in the same role on the hydrographic vessel NRP Almirante Gago Coutinho.
His last voyage was aboard the frigate NRP Álvares Cabral, also serving as Head of Mechanical Services.
He then attended the Master of Science in Naval Architecture programme at University College of London and has worked in the Shipbuilding Division since 2021.
He is currently joining the Monitoring and Inspection Team for the Engineering and Construction Project for the new Ocean Patrol Vessels (3rd series) at the West Sea Shipyard in Viana do Castelo.
