Rui Roque has a degree in Naval Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), as well as courses in ‘Modern Management Techniques and Business Administration for Engineers’, ‘Ocean Engineering’ and ‘Submarines, Structural Design’, all from the IST.

His professional experience includes roles as founding partner of Sociedade de Projectos Navais, trainer and lecturer at the University of the Algarve. He has also been managing partner of several companies related to the maritime sector, and is currently managing partner of Nautiber Estaleiros Navais do Guadiana since 1992.
